If your child receives free school meals, they are provided with a free meal each school day worth a value of £2.95.
Is your child eligible for free school meals?
You may eligible to claim Free School Meals for your child, you can do this if you are entitled to one of the following:
- Income Support,
- Income Related Employment Support Allowance,
- Income Based JobsSeeker’s Allowance,
- Guarantee Element of State Pension Credit, or
- Child Tax Credit with an income less than £16,190
- Universal Credit if the net household earnings is less than £7400.
*Families who get Working Tax Credit do not qualify.
If you think that your child or children might qualify for free school meals, you must apply. Even if your child does not want to claim the free meals it is beneficial to be on the list.
Applications can now be made online using a short online form that can be completed from personal devices at home.
Applicants with queries or who need support should contact the Free School Meals line on 029 2053 7250 where members of the team will be able to resolve most queries without the need for an appointment. Access to PCs on an appointment-only basis is available in hubs across the city for anyone without access to a device or the internet. Should this be difficult, whilst online applications are preferred, you can complete the paper form attached and send by post.
