On Tuesday 6th December, Year 11 took part in a careers taster day to help them make informed decisions regarding their Post 16 education and career pathway. 

For the first two hours they enjoyed 4 taster sessions of their choice in a number of A level / Post 16 subjects including Criminology, English Literature, Performing Arts, Construction, Hair and Beauty, Politics, Automotive and Catering. Students' engagement was fantastic, and they gained a lot from the experience. 

Later in the day, students had the opportunity to meet 23 different employers and have an hour workshop with them. Each employer offered different skills, information and delivery techniques. In their words, our students found that “the workshops were interesting and gave [us] some perceptive of what [we] want to do in the future’

Students then had the opportunity to have 1:1 professional interviews with the employers following the completion of a practice application form. Students were scored on a variety of aspects including how well-dressed they were, their introduction and their body language.  

It was a fantastic day enjoyed by staff, students and employers. One employer said ‘ We were really impressed with how focused the students were. They all had really clear ideas, ambitions and plans for their future. We were also impressed by the school facilities.’ 

We are incredibly proud of our young people and look forward to doing a similar event again next year. We also look forward to hearing about all the wonderful employment opportunities this day might bring Year 11!
