Today Eastern High had a fantastic opportunity to participate in an Engineering challenge in the beautiful setting of St Fagans. The challenge organised by I.C.E and Arup, involved 16 of our pupils competing against other schools from Cardiff. The pupils were given the problem of building a sustainable water tower, whilst considering the amount of materials used, calculating the cost then testing to see which structure could hold the most water. A wonderful presentation from ARUP engineers was given to explain to pupils the importance of engineering and the role of engineers when planning for a sustainable future.
Our amazing pupils finished the day on a high with their structure managing to hold the most water, so much so that the organisers ran out of water! They are currently top of the Cardiff schools table as the best performing structure and will hopefully go on to win the whole competition. Well done to our students pictured here accepting their prize.
