Techniquest Trips

On Monday 28th January, Mrs Coulthard and five of our budding mathematicians in Years 8 and 9 went down to Techniquest in Cardiff Bay to attend a series of workshops on exciting scientific topics. Our aspiring scientists enjoyed exploring Techniquest’s Planetarium during a workshop on astrophysics and were shocked to find out that the fossils they were holding started out as dinosaur poo! They also got a chance to try their hand at detective work, using data analytics to identify patterns that could help to track down a serial killer. All in all, they thoroughly enjoyed collaborating with pupils from schools across Cardiff and came away with a broader view of how mathematics and science can be applied in the real world.
